The Data Processing Management Association should have 60,000 members by 1970 and data processing is expected to
branch out into all fields of education and business the associations international president said in Boise on
Wednesday night.

Speaking to the group at the Downtowner, Elmer Judge, Wichita, Kansas, said the association presently has 16,000
members in 190 chapters throughout the country. The local chapter has 42 members.

Data processing has only scratched the surface in business and industry, Judge said. As examples of the wide uses, he cited the setting of type for newspapers, control of guided missiles and income tax auditing for the Internal Revenue Service.

Among its recent activities, Judge said, the association is issuing certificates to graduates of data processing training and is preparing a text book for high school students.
