Extensions

Hi, I would like to ask what the rationale is for having the extensions in a seperate subdirectory? Currently this package and corfu are the only packages on ELPA that make use of :renames in the package specification, and there was some discussion a while back about dropping that. It is also an issue for "package-vc", that doesn't want to move files around in a checkout.

Just for clarity of the code base - the extensions in the subdirectory are really small packages which could be installed separately in addition to the main vertico.el. I think package-vc should be able to handle different directory layouts.

It can be done, but it is more complicated because we have to align that with package specifications as used by ELPA and then ensure that the resulting tarballs are also compatible with older versions of package.el as well. So I hope you understand why I first wanted to ask you if you would be OK with flattening the package structure.
