Describe the Bug

Open the JC crafting window. Type anything in the search filter, getting a complete game crash with memory error.

This only happens with AllTheThings loaded. Searches just fine without the addon.

Seems to only happen in the first search. If you somehow not get the crash, by idk, selecting manually the thing you want to craft and searching after, it doesn't seem to happen.
Although, it will crash at a subsequent point if you press ESC with the mouse over the ATT extra profession tab anchored to the right of the profession window.
Is this a memory leak?

LE: after additional playtime/testing, seems this bug occurs for each profession. If you search before scrolling the list you get the crash.

Yes, it is happening also with only ATT enabled.

This is a very strange problem.
Ideally, a Lua interpreter should block any illegal memory accesses instead of crashing the game.

I've tried reproducing this in MOP Classic and cannot reproduce it at all

This indicates to me that you may have corruption on your SSD or your Cache folder. You may want to do a clean reinstall or investigate replacing your hard drive.

One thing, in the past my addons (ATT, Big Wigs, etc.) have been behaving strangely because they became corrupted after downloading an update because Curse server sucks. Could you reinstall ATT to see if the problem persists? Another player #2168 in the past also had unrepeatable issues with their ATT, and after reinstalling the addon, the problem was resolved.

Just nuking the addon data in WTF folder should do the trick, yes?

Not necessarily, because there may be missing/corrupted files in the addon folder itself. After clearing the cache, if you're using an addon manager, press "reinstall".

No, I was more talking about a full WoW reinstall. Assets, spell names, item textures, etc are all stored in the Data folder for WoW itself in gigantic binary asset containment libraries. If an asset was malformed or missing in the alignment that it was expected in (IE SSD/Hard drive corruption or a failed update misplaced an asset in the binary container), it would throw the kind of error you are reporting.

Essentially any operation that would run logic against a portion of one of those corrupted binary containers could throw such an error.

Edit: Something I forgot is the BNET Launcher has a "Scan and Repair" option in the gear next to Play. You could try that first to see if it fixes the issue before a full reinstall of the game.
