multipanel always opens in the sidebar

hi,

not sure if i'm doing something wrong, but starting with AIOS 7.29 the multipanel always opens in the sidebar, no matter what settings i use.
i'd like to have it in a window, like up to 7.28. about:config & co. don't make sense for me in the sidebar, unless maybe if it is set to very wide.
