az postgres flexible-server connect does not work in the Azure Cloud Shell, returning error message:

It is expectedly not possible to upgrade the Azure CLI version in the Azure Cloud Shell as it runs in the temporary Azure-provided environment:

@eprigorodov Thanks for having created this issue.

Dynamic install of the extension that implements that connect command isn't triggered because CLI core determines that postgres flexible-server core command group exists. However, the module doesn't define the connect command for that command group. CLI core doesn't probe extensions for missing commands. Therefore, if you want to use this command, you must manually install the rdbms-extension. To do so, run az extension add --name rdbms-connect.

Please, try it out and let me know how it worked.

Since this issue was about documentation, I'd suggest adding the following note in the bottom of section "az postgres flexible-server connect":

Note

This command is defined in the Azure CLI extension and can be unavailable by default in some environments like Azure Cloud Shell. Install it with az extension add --name rdbms-connect.

I was able to reproduce the issue by running az postgres flexible-server connect in the Azure Cloud Shell, which returned the specified error message. A potential root cause could be related to the az_postgres_flexible_server_connect function in flexible_server.py.

To address this, we could consider:

• Verifying if the command is correctly registered in the CLI.
• Checking for any recent changes in the Azure CLI that might have affected this command.

I'm happy to open a focused PR if that's the direction — or if there's a reason it's been left like this, good to know. Is there any additional context on recent changes to the command?
