Unit tests

We need unit tests for the R package to make sure that the package still works when new R versions are released, for example.
The examples from the manual could be useful for the tests.
The tests should run automatically on Github and test the package on Linux, Mac and Windows with different R versions.
It would also be interesting to run the tests in both R and RStudio.
