I realized the image generation is not ideal in this case (there is nothing wrong with your PR, but nevertheless I'm commenting here so I can keep track of my thoughts).
First: unfortunately it only generates the banner images on a merge of a PR (or actually on a push to main) and we don't have preview for it --> a potential fix is to migrate the whole image generation repo into our main website repo.
Second: it works best when we populate two entries in the "talks" property of events.yaml. In this case, it would most likely put Mario's talk on the first talk, but in fact he should be second talk as the first talk typically goes to the host.

I'm fine with still merging this PR and I can take care of the other issues in the next couple of days.
