Infinite loop in some cases when try to match

I'm investigating and will add unit tests once I can figure out what's happening.

Discovered this was due to mismatched brackets, yet nothing indicated this. As a result, the code thought everything was valid, yet it wasn't. However, it was actually invalid. So, it got stuck in an infinite loop.

Need to add failsafe logic to at least prevent infinite loop.
