individual ID, sample pointers

The individual ID is currently a text field of the sample table.

Proposal is to change this to be autogenerated from a sample, and point samples from the same individual to a master entry.

1. external ID if filled out
2. internal ID otherwise, for example I32195

If a sample has an external ID, we assume that this is the initial processing.

In the future, we may want to separate out columns from the sample table into an individual table to reuse for different samples from the same individual.

Sample proposal

1. Reich lab id
2. External id
3. *Primary sample foreign key (null if this sample is a primary)
4. Individual ID

The individual ID will be non-blank only if it is custom.

• Reich lab IDs like S1234->I1234 do not need explicit annotation
• External IDs that double as the individual ID also do not need explicit annotation
• Samples requiring individual IDs
  1. Samples with both Reich lab and external IDs
  2. Special names
• If a sample is not primary, it does not need an individual ID because the primary sample will have it.
