Hi, thanks for the issue!

The best way is to modify it globally on your local machine

Linux/macOS: Add export PERPLEXITY_API_KEY="your_api_key" to your shell profile (~/.bashrc, ~/.zshrc, ~/.profile, etc.) and restart your shell or source the file.
Windows: Set it via System Properties -> Environment Variables.

So set it in my local machine and then I can remove the entire env section in the config?

what error are you getting? it's not working for me either so I want to see what's on your side so I can apply a patch
