Serialization and Compression

Describe what happened:
I need to serialize sketches from different sources and store them before computing quantiles.
I can add serialization on my end probably using google protobuf, but I am just wondering why the omission?
I will appreciate if you share with me how you are handling the issue if you have any future plan to add serialization and some form of compression.
