  • I have searched for my feature proposal and not found a work-in-progress/duplicate/resolved/discarded issue.
  • This proposal is a completely new feature. If you want to suggest an improvement or an enhancement, please use this template

Describe the new feature

Imagine a top level tab that is peered with "Discover Packages, Software Updates, Installed Packages" called "Follow Packages" or perhaps "Watch Packages". When you search for package in "Discover Package" there would be an addition to the right-click menu that says something like "Follow/Watch Package". Selecting the tab would show a similar "toolbar" to "Discover Packages" - but have the disclaimer stated clearly that the packages listed are NOT installed but only being followed. All other features would work the same as "Installed packages" except the "ignore packages" would become "unwatch/unfollow packages" and the right-click menu would have the unfollow addition.

Some users might not like this feature so perhaps an option settings to enable the tab/right-click additions. (perhaps an experimental feature to start?)

Describe how this new feature could help users.

There are times when you might want to wait to install a package until a specific milestone has been met. Or perhaps you are watching packages that you are responsible for/use on other machines. Or you just want to follow and not install.
