Comapatibility with Zarr v3

Compatibility with zarr v3 would be very appreciated and would allow to to include this package in Debian/Ubuntu.
I see that also EOPF-CPM is going to switch to zarr v3 in the next release (EOPF-CPM v3.0.0).
Is there a concrete plan for xarray-eopf to do it as well?

Yes it is planned, once we have the first EOPF ZARR Samples disseminated via the EOPF Zarr Sample STAC Catalog, that the plugin works accordingly with the new samples.

@konstntokas so I understand it will also remain backward compatible. Specifically, can the backend support both zarr v2 and zarr v3, dynamically selecting the appropriate version based on the samples?

@suriyahgit yes it will be backward compatible. Zarr3 should already be backward compatible and should allow to open zarr2 products. I did first testing on this. Further testing needs to be done once the EOPF products in Zarr3 are out. The goal is to use the native zarr compatibilities are far as possible and only close gaps via the plugins if needed.
