Does not recognize page size on initial refresh, menu covers chat

On initial refresh at half width, it does not recognize the screen with and collapse the menu. Instead, the menu covers the chat. Expected behavior:

• When opening on mobile, menu should be collapsed
• Clicking outside of the menu into the chat area should collapse the menu
