@amyevans FYI I haven't added the External label as I wasn't 100% sure about this issue. Please take a look and add the label if you agree it's a bug and can be handled by external contributors.

Reproduced on Android. It's not worth blocking deploy over, so I'll remove the label. @youssef-lr I see you have a follow up PR open for uneven splits (#41717), is this issue something you want to address there? Or do you prefer we make this external?
