Desktop notifications aren't working

I have notifications enabled yet I haven't been receiving browser notifications for a while, I 'feel' like I did last week. Is this expected right now or should they be working?

yeah, I remember them working but I'm not getting them now. @jboniface said they were 'inconsistent' for him too.
Let me know if there's anything you'd recommend to test/tweak

Bumping this to HIGH and adding to Milestone, at least til we get more info. We (pretty much) need this for launch since people won't know when they have messages without notifications.

Chat has not prompted me to receive notifications—not only am I not receiving them, it does not even show up in the list in System Preferences

@rafecolton have you reinstalled the desktop app lately? the latest iteration of Chat shows up in System Preferences for me

fwiw, I'm getting push notifications, but never desktop.

I see [NOTIFICATION] Creating notification logs in my browser, but I do not see a notification
