I swear it used to work without that, but I'm getting the same error "Unkown Google Cloud SDK location" even after following the maven install instructions at https://cloud.google.com/appengine/docs/java/managed-vms/maven @shun-fan Should we check with the gcloud team? Has there been a maven plugin update? |

the sample won't work unless you specify the gcloud sdk directory in the command line or in pom.xml, UNLESS you installed the gcloud sdk at the default location.
