Need to make codebase cleaner and clearer.

Since this is my first issue, some background:
I'm going to open quite a few issues based on my experience of implementing codebases just like this one. Any issues I open over the next few days I am actively working on in my own fork of this project. My broad aims are to

1.) Make the semantics clearer (Utilizing schemas to define what actual data is being used)
2.) Homogeneity of the codebase (Utilizing Cylon.js to reimplment the python portion of this framework so that the codebase is only node.js and associated arduino code.)
3.) Utilizing containers to make installation and portability better. (Docker, docker-compose for the backend and GUI).
