Cannot install with later R versions than 3.1

I have the latest version of R on my machine (3.6.2) and when trying to install your R essentials for SPSS (the win 64 version for SPSS v 23) it asks me to ensure this is in the folder where R 3.1 is installed. when I point it to my R installation folder (for R 3.6.2) it says R 3.1 not installed there. I could install an older copy of R as well but that seems less than optimal? Any suggestions?

Each version of SPSS Statistics is tied to a particular version of R due to the need for certain R header files that are R-version specific. For example, Statistics 26 uses R3.5. So you need to install the version of R that goes with your version of Statistics. You can have many versions of R installed without conflict (I have four).

I'm having similar problem. I have SPSS 27 for mac and added the extension R 3.6, but when I get to the final step of configuration the 3.6, it says the R 3.6 is not located in the place i specified. Either I can't find the location or I'm having some error. Has anyone been able to successfully configure the R 3.6 extension for SPSS 27 ? If so, how?
