New description:
Ingest is still relying on the filename extension to determine file type.
For beta, we want proper file type recognition, similar or better than in 3.*.
The recognized type should appear in the file view even before user hits "save".

Old description:
Upon ingest there is availability to change file name and extension.

• when changing/removing file extension tabular files (dat, xlsx.. ) files are ingested as non-tabular

Smarter file type recogntion has been added to the app, so it no longer relies on file name extensions alone.

Stata, R and FITs files should now be properly recognized and ingested, whether they have the .dta, .RData, .fits extensions or not (or no extensions at all).

Also, recognized mime types should now appear in the file listings even before the user hits "save".

Known limitations so far:

CSV files without the proper ".csv" extensions will only be ingested as plain text (mime type "text/plain").
Excel files without the proper .xlsx extensions: on some browsers, they will still be properly recognized by the browser and the primefaces upload component; however, Jhove does not recognize MS Office documents (at least not "out of the box"), so when we have to rely on Jhove, excel files without extensions will be treated as "unknown".

I can eventually produce custom recognition checkers for both of these types (or, for Excel/xlsx, find a Jhove plugin somebody else may have produced). I propose that we open separate, low-priority tickets for these 2 features.
