On that page, download the latest build or release file for Windows. If you see more than one file, pick the one made for Windows.
After the file downloads:
- Open your Downloads folder.
- Find the kbox file you downloaded.
- If the file is a ZIP archive, right-click it and choose Extract All.
- Open the extracted folder.
- Double-click the kbox app or launcher file.
- If Windows asks for permission, choose Yes.
If Windows shows a SmartScreen prompt, click More info, then Run anyway if you trust the source.
To start kbox:
- Open the app.
- Wait while it sets up the Linux kernel.
- Let it finish its first start. The first run may take longer.
- Open the Linux app or task you want to use inside kbox.
If the app has a menu or command box, use it to start the Linux environment first. Then launch your tool inside that environment.
When you run kbox for the first time, it may create folders and small support files. This is normal.

- check that your system has enough RAM
If you see a missing file message:
- redownload the app from the GitHub page
- extract every file in the archive
- keep the files in the same folder
