Java API doesn't work with latest RHEL9 logbooks server

On submit to the new server the stack trace looks like:

Caused by: java.net.ProtocolException: Server rejected operation
        at java.base/sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.expect100Continue(HttpURLConnection.java:1358)

Starting with TLSv1.3 HTTP/1.1 Expect: Continue handling has been replaced with Post-Handshake Authentication (PHA), which Java standard library doesn't support. Also note that HTTP/2 explicitly doesn't support PHA by design.

Java 11 introduced the java.net.HttpClient class, which replaces the java.net.HttpUrlConnection class. The later class appears to have better support for Expect: Continue.
