I modified the .mailmap file to fix as many duplicate contacts as I could, while also updating names and email addresses.
After that, I ran
git shortlog -sne | cut -c8- > doc/CONTRIBUTORSto regenerate the CONTRIBUTORS file, as seen here.The scripts from this webpage were a great help in spotting duplicates, but some may have been missed.
