Revisit disabled tests and platforms

In PR #3 we took a bunch of short cuts. Revisit them when time permits:

a7c3b4c CI: Fix macOS test failures by removing gcc-14 and disabling AttributeGTest suite
efb5994 CI: Disable some tests to get green across platforms
df5fe18 Transpose the expected matrix so tests pass

9e798b8 also disabled a few python tests that need further investigation.
