Test Types

MuRAT provides test figures for attenuation, scattering and absorption tomography. These are all in the Tests folder. These tests are divided into three categories.

Analyses

The Analyses figures allow for assessing the data quality and inversion (except for the peak delay, which is only regionalised), which changes depending on frequency.

  1. For peak delay, the user needs to test the linear increase of peak-delays vs ray length/travel time.

  1. Coda attenuation must be constant with increasing ray length/travel time.

  1. Q-imaging requires the use of normilised direct waves whose log-amplitude decay linearly with ray length/travel time - the output figure allows comparing with the un-normalized amplitude.

Curves

The Curves figures allow for assessing the correct damping for the inversion - you can pick a damping that minimises norm (left) or one that minimises its second derivative (right).

Synthetic tests

The Checkerboard and Spike figures show input and output of the synthetic tests for different frequencies.
