SubCap is a desktop subtitle tool for players who want translated text to stay near the game screen. Select the area to read, and HUD-style subtitles appear near the upper part of the play area so you can follow in-game text without pulling your eyes away from the game.

Quick Start

1. Open the latest version.
2. Download the installer. Use the portable package only when you prefer manual setup.
3. Launch SubCap.
4. Let SubCap download the required OCR and translation models when prompted.
5. Select the screen area to read. Subtitles start automatically after the region is set.

Preview

SubCap updates the subtitle text as the captured game text changes, so you can keep reading without reselecting the area each time.

Investigation mode shows the original text and translation side by side when you want to check a phrase more carefully.

What platforms are supported?

SubCap currently supports Windows.

Are the models included in the installer?

No. SubCap downloads the required OCR and translation models after installation. This keeps the app download smaller and makes future updates easier.

Which download should I choose?

Use the installer for normal use. Choose the portable package when you want to:

• Set up SubCap manually
• Verify behavior without installing
• Replace the app folder yourself when updating

Does SubCap need an online translation API key?

No external translation API key is required for the local-first setup.

Do I need to install .NET manually?

The installer handles the required .NET Runtime setup. For portable packages, install the .NET Runtime yourself if Windows asks for it.
