Request for SAP HANA Support

Hello OHDSI team,

I am working with a large OMOP CDM instance hosted on SAP HANA (HANA 2.x).
Currently, the OHDSI toolchain—specifically SqlRender + DatabaseConnector + DataQualityDashboard—does not support HANA as a database dialect.

I am opening this issue to request official support for SAP HANA as an additional DBMS option in the OHDSI ecosystem.

Right now, Data quality dashboard cannot run on HANA because:

1. DatabaseConnector::connect() enforces a whitelist of DBMS names (no "hana" option).

2. SqlRender has no "hana" translation dialect.

3. DQD relies on SqlRender and therefore cannot translate SQL to HANA syntax.

Hi @simonlee184 . Thanks for reaching out. Currently, the OHDSI tools support a whopping 11 different database platforms as you can see here. I am not aware of any other advanced analytic solution that does that. I strongly recommend you pick one of those supported platforms for your organization. (Please!)

Every few months or so, someone will come along and ask for support for the next database platform. Because the OHDSI tools interact very intimately with the database, this is actually a heavy lift, requiring a lot of work in several places. It puts an enormous burden on the OHDSI developers, and takes away resources from other important developments.

Hi Martijn, I didn't realize there were so many different platforms. Thank you for sharing the link. I can ask others in my institution if they have used any of them to access the databases I'm looking to run the tool on. Your plea will not be ignored!
