Hello! I ran this through the #development channel and Discord and was told to post a couple of recommendations here to improve the UI.
In the Overview, there are a lot of balances (12) presented to the user at first glance, each with different labels... That is excessive information for an overview. My recommendation is to consolidate to 5 essential balances, with the ability to drill down on the details if necessary. The 5 balances should be
Total Available Balance:
Available PIV:
Pending:
Available zPIV:
Minting:
Pending is any Pending or Locked PIV. When you mouse-over the Pending balance or click on a “?” Icon next to the balance, it could pop up a window that shows:
- Available PIV:
- Pending PIV:
- Locked PIV:
Minting is any zPIV still awaiting confirmation or are maturing. When you mouse over the Minting balance or click on a “?” Icon next to the balance, it could pop up a window that shows:
- Available zPIV:
- Unconfirmed zPIV:
- Maturing zPIV:
If we’re really high speed, the window that pops up for zPIV could show a status bar for each zPIV denomination being minted as it goes through the confirmation and maturation process.
I would also recommend making the font size for Total Available Balance the largest, followed by Available PIV/Available zPIV, and then Pending/Minting the smallest. This way, a user knows with minimal effort how much he can spend, and how much is being processed. If he wants more details, he can get it with a click of a button or a mouse hover.
Part 2
With less balances being displayed, I think a notification section should occupy the space saved underneath. This is sorely needed. This should be where messages/notifications from the dev team to update software, encrypted chat messages, notification of incoming transactions should be displayed, etc. would show up.
Getting the overview and UI clean will be critical for mass adoption. Having a cleaner Overview page would help. Thanks and let me know your thoughts.
