The problem was caused by a Bootstrap bug that causes that the invalid-feedback css class doesn't work as expected in the case of radiobuttons and checkboxes: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45673354/bootstrap-4-invalid-feedback-with-input-group-not-displaying
