Consider improving gradle build speed

Although we don't have a big issue currently, let's keep this issue for the future. Here's a very nice hands-on guide from Google I/O 2017 on how to fix some very basic things that plague performance

Hi @atsakiridis! I would like to work in this. I have strong experience in optimizing gradle builds (e.g. reducing build from 20 minutes(!) to 11 for a 51 module project).

@Abrasha we evaluated our current build speed and its not that bad. There's is always room for improvement but right now the gain wouldn't be worth the effort. Would be be interested in contributing in other areas of the android SDK?
