0.25 inch difference

while measuring from one inch to next inch the distance is 0.75" , the difference should be 1" but its not please fix it thank you

thanks for taking the time to write this issue.

I am not able to replicate the problem on my computer.
Can you tell me what program you are using to open the SVG? Some programs use different scaling and we cannot fix it on our end. If you scale the ruler by 150% it should solve the problem for you.

I opened the SVG in adobe illustrator and it was the correct size.

I don’t have access to corel draw, but there is a known issue or some software interprets SVG files differently than others with regard to scale. It scaling your file in corel draw a practical solution? There is an existing pull request for this tool that might solve this problem, but I lack the skills and time to test or integrate the pull request.

Inkscape, Safari and Chrome all print out these rulers at 75% scale.

Have you actually printed this ruler from Illustrator to verify it works? Forgive my skepticism but I am finding it hard to believe that all three of Inkscape, Safari and Chrome just so happen to have the exact same bug.

It is frustrating that the top google hit for "svg ruler" appears to be an awesome, easy to use project, but then prints out rulers at the wrong size.

Hi Jason, thanks so much for taking the time to do all of those tests.

I just printed from illustrator and it is 1" exactly. When I print from chrome, I can confimr, it is a garbage size, 0.7505" per inch. (72/96 scale)
Kind of hilariously, I don't know JavaScript. I built this project on a whim years ago with the heavy assistance of an old coworker. I don't know how to make big changes.

My understanding is that some implementers of SVG standards failed to implement actual units. Many assume the units are pixels, which vary in definition from software software. A common standard is 72 pixels per inch. I think 96 and 108 are also used, 96 seemingly for the 3 tools you used.

I built this in paper.js, a somewhat outdated tool for vector graphics in JavaScript.
Sadly, I fear this was a bad choice so that does not support units, and frankly, barely supports SVG export.

Some years ago, somebody wrote a pull request for this tool that might solve the problem you're having by giving options for the pixel density. I do not have the skills to test it, I don't even know how to merge it, and if we did the whole thing would break because it uses a broken export script. Also, having a text box for folks to enter arbitrary numbers based on unpredictable behavior of different browsers and vector software is a UI nightmare.

I would love someone to redo the whole thing to Maker.JS, which supports units, SVG, PDF, and DXF formats.

I am going to try to fix this but I am doubtful I can do it. It is indeed a shame that the only ruler generator is making garbage rulers for anyone who isn't using adobe's expensive and mediocre products.

I was able to fix it thru copy paste mostly!
I a very open to suggestions on how to make the UI clear and clean but it should work for you now.
I tested it in chrome and it printed at 1.000"in.
Please re-open this issue if it is still broken.
