Message edit mode remains after deleting the message

Steps to reproduce it:

• Type a message and hit enter
• Get that message into edit mode
• Once in edit mode, go and delete the message

Result:
The message is deleted, but the message text box stays in edit mode.

Expected:
The text box should return to normal mode once the message is deleted.
