[SAML] Losing admin role while logging in

Description:

Losing admin role while logging in via SAML

Steps to reproduce:

1. User with role 'admin' logs out
2. User logs in via SAML, now no longer has the role 'admin'

Expected behavior:

User remains admin

Actual behavior:

Admin role removed after login

Server Setup Information:

• Version of Rocket.Chat Server: 4.0.1
• Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
• Deployment Method: tar
• Number of Running Instances: 3
• DB Replicaset Oplog: enabled
• NodeJS Version: 12.22.1
• MongoDB Version: 4.0.27

Client Setup Information

• Desktop App or Browser Version: 3.5.7
• Operating System: macOS Big Sur

Are you using the Enterprise Edition or Community? If you're using the EE, can you please provide us a screenshot of the Enteprise section in SAML settings?

I'm using the CE.

Having the same problem running the community edition. Also I now don't have any account with admin rights on the instance. Is there a way to give admin privileges to a user via the server console?

To adjust the privileges, run the following command in your MongoDB shell: db.users.update({username:"YOUR_USERNAME"}, {$set: {'roles' : [ "admin" ]}})

Hi,

I am also facing this issue on version 4.0.1. In addition my SAML users looses all roles except user role after successful log in.

My instance is running in Docker container with external database (also in Docker container mongo:4.2.17). It is not fresh install. I just updated from 3.17.0 version.
