Yesterday I created a custom mode. Everything was perfectly fine. I used it a few times. Today I created a second one. And after I created a second one, both have been gone. And now I'm not even able to create new ones. The window to create opens, I can input all the fields. But after I'm finished, it's simply not there. None of them.

Tried to find where they are stored but wasn't successful. Any input welcome to investigate further on what happened to them.

I have successfully identified and resolved the root cause of the custom modes disappearing issue.

🔍 Root Cause Analysis

The problem was caused by race conditions and state synchronization issues in the CustomModesManager:

1. Race condition in updateCustomMode where cache clearing happened before state refresh
2. Insufficient error handling leading to inconsistent state when operations failed
3. Lack of defensive checks for invalid mode data
4. Poor cache invalidation timing causing stale data issues

I have implemented comprehensive fixes in Pull Request #5856:

• Fixed race conditions by reordering state refresh before cache clearing
• Enhanced error handling with fallback recovery from global state
• Added defensive programming with validation checks for mode integrity
• Improved logging for better debugging and monitoring
• Ensured proper cache invalidation timing to prevent stale data
