Please notice that ISO 4217 lists CLP to have exponent 0, thus subunit_to_unit == 1.

Bonus information: On Oct. 14th, 12:00 St Louis, even Visa and Mastercard will adjust CLP (and UGX) to be aligned with ISO 🙂

Edit: Mastercard updates CLP on Oct. 14th 12:00 St Louis time; Visa updates CLP on Oct. 13th 10:00 GMT 🤦‍♂️

@ct-clearhaus thanks for additional info! I think it makes sense to leave it as it is then. What about the name of the subunit?

Chilean here. These changes don't really make sense, as CLP doesn't have a subunit in circulation. The changes actually seem to refer to the chilean "escudo", which stopped circulating in 1975 (see here).

This site (in spanish, from the Chilean Central Bank) shows the smallest denomination, which is a 1 CLP coin, and they will actually stop minting 1 and 5 CLP coins on November 1st, 2017.
