Hack for getting rid of unicode strings in activecode.py causes weird behavior in exercises #233

@aerenchyma

Description

@aerenchyma

Due to line 91 of activecode.py, the character u is invisible in strings in built textbooks any time it appears before a ' or ", e.g. you'll all see as a string or the like appears and acts as yo'll all see

It's consistent (i.e. because it's being actually replaced, it doesn't ruin any code users will write and behaves as expected), but it is confusing to make content that includes the string u' without intending unicode and see the u disappear. (Appears to students as if instructors/authors have made a typo)

(I am poking at it now, unless someone has an idea first, and will close out this issue if I fix it.)
