voice message recording not possible on phone bc ui design

if i tap one time on the recording button, it will immediately dismiss. if i hold it will try to select text…. so not really usable.

Not sure I follow? on mobile voice messages are supposed to be hold and release to record. This is the common UX among all messaging apps with a difference that we don't have a lock gesture feature to keep recording without having to hold the button down for long voice messages.

actually I think I see what you mean, it tries to select the following the conversation text. that should not be selectable...
