 Sorry, that was my error when reporting the bug. Version 3.38.0-2 DOES WORK,

bisected the commits and found https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/mutter/-/commit/209b1ba3 to be the issue

https://packages.debian.org/source/experimental/mutter has the fix, need to grab libmutter-7-0, gir1.2-mutter-7 from experimental
