Meeting Agenda

Progress status

  • StackStorm v3.9.0 StackStorm v3.9.0
    • Packaging and Docker images have been updated but st2 core code is blocking Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy) integration because unit tests are failing. mamercad has been working on the Jammy integration
  • Support for MongoDB 5, 6, 7 [WIP] Interoperability updates for py3.8, py3.9 and py3.10 st2#6157
    • Mongo support progression is slower than anticipated because nose testing framework and other 3rd part modules aren't supported under Python 3.10 and must be mirgated/upgraded before pymongo deprecation testing can start.
  • Eventlet Retirement Eventlet retirement st2#6128
    • No progress, no owner.
  • StackStorm Exchange - Pack compatibility with Python3.9/3.10/3.11
    • No progress, no owner.
  • Pants
    • Jacob is progressing the pants work. There may be some crossover between the mongodb updates and pants updates so Carlos will push any confirmed working module versions into pants.
  • stackstorm.com revamp StackStorm.com: Jamstack Revamp to Increase Visibility, Vitality & Engagement #132
    • Dale has started work on the new "jamstack" architecture website. The products and services in the new stack are free and open source. One feature that may be of inertest in the future is server side rendering. Such features must be purchased but cost is expected to be in the range of 3 figures per year. Orchestal may be willing to provide sponsorship for these services.

Action

  1. Iben offered to contact Netlify to see if they have an open source plan free offering and mentioned https://www.netlify.com/legal/open-source-policy/

  2. Maintainer TODO: create an issue per pack repository and request maintainers to test compatibility with py3.9/3.10/3.11

TSC Meeting date/time

Do we want to reconsider the TSC meeting schedule to be more stable (e.g. using the UTC timezone)?

As a consideration: Would we be able / willing to accommodate a follow the sun meeting schedule that would allow participation from people across the globe (America/Europe/Asia). Scheduling that favours Europe/America has already excluded one maintainer from TSC meetings due to times being during night/early morning.

The overall idea is generally well accepted but requires broader input.

Scott enquired if it is possible to record meetings of TSC and upload to youtube. We currently don't have access to the youtube account and would require Evan Powell to help with gaining access to the account again.

Action

  1. nzlosh to create new issue detailing the above idea so member to respond asynchronously.

  2. Iben will get in touch with Evan Powell or Dmitri regarding getting access to the StackStorm youtube account.

Google Workspace Renewal

Require Credit Card to pay for workspace $6USD per month increases to $7.20USD per month.

  • Calendar
  • Meetings
  • Mail
    • Aliases
    • Mailing List
  • Document storage
  • Domain?
    Switch to free service? Protonmail?

Dale and Iben expressed concern it would be too disruptive to switch to another service and it would be easier to carry on with the existing service and the new rate.

Iben mentioned it might be possible to pass the account to a non-profit status but it would require business documentation and possibly an .org address. Jacob pointed out that StackStorm is part of the Linux Foundation which is a non-profit organisation.

Action

  1. The senior maintainers will work with Iben to request a nonprofit discount.

Additional talking points

Monitoring - Metrics

Scott has been working on collecting metrics with Prometheus using the statsd exporter as a side car in the Kubernetes cluster. He's still working on the final solution but has indicated the general StackStorm documentation is sufficient and may be able to contribute more explicit details on collecting metrics in a Kubernetes environment.
