Attachments needs better UX #56

Description

@jkudish

Attachments are currently wonky in a number of ways, there's room for improvement:

  • In addition to drag-and-drop, there should be a normal/typical upload button
  • There should be some feedback when you drop a file that it is being uploaded and when it's done uploading
  • The "drop" zone should be better defined. For example, I dropped a file where it says "Drop a file in the message to attach it" and that wasn't part of the drop zone. At the very least, the entire "conversation" box should be part of the drop zone.
  • The URL generated for uploaded files, doesn't work for me at all.
  • The full name of files should be given (e.g. with the extension vs. just the filename) once uploaded. Example: image1 vs. image.jpg, making it easier to scan through the list of files.

Nice to have but probably not for v1:

  • A small thumbnail should be available for image files
  • An icon could appear for each other file type, e.g. a PDF icon can be used for PDFs, a document icon for Word docs, etc...
  • Attachments could go in their own metabox, making it easier to find/scan them, especially if there's a lot
