Is this gem available on RubyGems ?

Readme says gem install gas_ssh . Didn't work for me. Is the gem released on RubyGems yet?

Oops, I missed this message, I forgot to toggle the project to 'watched' after Walle sent it to me. I've been putting it off for a while, I'm not quite sure if it works yet, I've been using an old version of gas that incorporated this.

I'll test it today and if it's working I'll push it to rubygems immediately.

well.. the tests aren't passing. It's kinda tricky for me to develop this gem right now because I rely on an outdated version of gas to get my work done. I don't know when I'll have time to sort out the unit tests on this, but maybe I'll come back to it later.

In the meantime, if you really like the idea of letting gas handle your ssh keys, I can push my development version of the old version of gas which works on Debian and Linux Mint. I can't test on Mac, but I think I patched something down the road so it would work in that environment too.

For now, you might be able to do

$  gem install gas2

And have it work just like the read me on the https://github.com/TheNotary/gas

I've been using the old version of gas on my work linux box and everything was working well. Recently I decided to install gas on my personal laptop, so I ran gem install gas and tried the same commands, but nothing worked. I went through the gas readme and found that ssh key switching was moved into a different gem ! Isn't ssh key switching an important part of git user switching ? What's the rationale behind moving it into a plugin ?

To be honest, I'm really not sure what the original intent of 'gas' was, I never asked Walle about that actually. I think he made it just for the sake of having commit history on his local machines have entries of the specific git authors.

When I first looked into the gem, I assumed it was for ssh handling, and when I found that it didn't do that I figured I'd implement the feature and move on so I could easily instruct people on how to setup their dev environment to work with github.com without me needing to explain ssh-keygen commands and such.

Once I get around to fixing up this extension I'll probably be able to get walle to either include it by default or have a switch --ssh that easily installs it, but for right now, I just don't have the time to implement that arrangement.

Did gem install gas2 work ok for you? I have a desktop on which I plan to test that but I'm in the middle of a Linux Mint post-installer bash/ ruby script and I'm still ready to install a working copy of ruby yet.

Haven't tried gas2 yet. If it's a fork from gas before the plugin refactor, it should work. I'll try it out when I get some time. Thanks :)
