job runs twice with different names

Currently, this generates two emails: one that says, "Greetings undefined," and one that says, "Greetings, #{name}". Why does it run twice, and why are the name values different?

This is actually happening because calling ./eod runs in the background, and I started that process several times. The script should count the number of these processes and kill all if there's more than 1 before running:
