Wifi Name and special characters

When there is a special character such as an apostrophe i.e 'John's Wifi' it fails to connect. I noticed it would display it with a backslash before the apostrophe. I created a guest network and used underscores and no spaces or apostrophes and it connected straight away.

Are you referring to WebThings Gateway? If so, which version are you using? IIRC this should be fixed in 1.0.

I downloaded version 1.0 from https://webthings.io/gateway/ for RPi, i initally tried to use 0.12 from https://iot.mozilla.org/gateway but the link is broken. I downloaded 1.0 twice to be sure and was having the same issue, I booted it straight away after flashing, the hotspot page works and says connecting but it freezes and you have to manually reboot and none of the settings have saved, but if you use a correctly formatted SSID everything is fine.

While at it may i suggest adding support for hidden SSID's as well, since those do not appear in the list. btw adding hidden SSID support means adding the proper country profile where the user picks it from a list and all config are handed down to the wifi scanner.

Possibly related, I've noticed that some SSIDs are still not displaying correctly. See screenshot:
