A2D originally supported typeless/generic, TXT, BAS, BIN, SYS (two variants) and DIR. Other common/useful types:
$08 (FOT) - never got the use it deserved, IMHO

IIgs-specific types ($5x, $Ax, $Bx, $Cx)

AppleWorks AWP, ASP, ADB

Other types named in BASIC.SYSTEM:
PAS - $EF - Pascal Area
CMD - $F0 - ProDOS Command File
INT - $FA - Integer BASIC Program File
IVR - $FB - Integer BASIC Variable File
VAR - $FD - Applesoft BASIC Variable File
REL - $FE - EDASM Relocatable Code
Of these, CMD may get more use with ProDOS 2.5, and @oliverschmidt expressed interest in REL.
CMD could get a fancy ] prompt/box cursor. Not sure what to do for REL
