sequence time and log limits do not current imply any actual limits

the time limit on a sequence is currently ignored - it does not enforce a limit on the total duration of the sequence (plausible expectation).

similarly the log limit is ignored; the logs for a sequence currently contain the the ids of the child activations; what does it mean to set this limit to 0?
