build fails on AArch64, Fedora 33

This is an autoconf issue. It needs to be updated to not add that flag for this particular architecture / compiler. Could you do a "make V=1" to find the exact compiler and then use the "--version" flag on that for the version?

Tried again, still get that. Seems this compiler option has been removed 2017:

@LutzWeischerFujitsu - did you do a clean checkout? At a minimum you would need to do autoreconf to update the build.

Um, I'm not sure if you're smiling at my naivety or it's working for you now. If it's not, I'll need to see your "config.log" - the flag should only be used if autoconf successfully compiled test code using that flag. If that's correct, then there has to be a mismatch between what autoconf is using and what the actual build is using.
