While looking at an unrelated change, I found the documentation for redirect configuration variables was incomplete.
Not requesting a back-port to 8.x, unlike #4131, because here the change does not involve an enumerated sequence that might cause conflicts when merged automatically. If we want to back-port to 8.x anyway though, I think that would be fine.
