Reopen Last Item behavior broken under OS X

I've noticed this behavior from first install (0.94.0, I believe) and up to and including 0.96.0. To reproduce:

1. Open a file
2. Quit Atom
3. Launch Atom
4. Select Reopen Last Item – action fails
5. Select Open... and select another file

This file will display in a 2nd tab, while the file that should have opened with Reopen Last Item will display in the first tab in the same window.

@shawnyeager I can't seem to reproduce this. Can you please clarify steps 1 and 3 -- how exactly are you starting Atom and opening a file? Are you starting Atom from the terminal (within a specific project), or from Spotlight? A GIF that demonstrates this would be 🆒 as well. :)

Also, the Reopen Last Item command works only within the current "session" -- if you quit and restart Atom, it should not do anything currently I believe.

@izuzak Certainly, a reasonable point regarding intended behavior of Reopen Last Item. To clarify, I performed these actions all from the OS X GUI: launching Atom, selecting menu commands.

First, I launch Atom from my dock.

Then I open a file using Open...

Then I Quit Atom, relaunch Atom, select Reopen Last Item, and nothing does or – as you clarify – should happen. I then open a second file using the Open... command, and see this.

Maybe this is intended behavior, and I don't know it.

@izuzak After further poking around, it looks like I may have found something coincidental, not causal. Regardless of using the Reopen Last Item command, the previously opened file is being opened alongside a newly opened file. Maybe project-related behavior and I'm ignorant of it?

Yeah, I do believe that you're seeing expected behavior. Just to confirm -- both File1.txt and File2.txt are in the same project or directory?

Atom remembers the opened files per-project across "sessions". So when you quit Atom, and reopen the same project/directory -- you'll see all the files you had open before you quit. So, what happened in your case is that you asked Atom to open a file from a project/directory you had open before, and Atom complied by first reopening all the files that were previously open, and then opening the file you selected with "Open with...". Does that make sense? 😄
