worth adding ASP support?

I occasionally work on classic ASP pages, which are identical to HTML in every way, save the addition of some vbscript.

I can fork and modify the grammars/html.cson file to include files with a .asp extension, but I assume vbscript syntax highlighting is every bit as big a project as combining HTML and PHP into one language file. At bare minimum, catching the <% ... %> and <%= ... %> tags and styling them differently is probably a good idea. Is the HTML language file the right place to put ASP stuff?

I feel like language-asp should be its own package and just include the text.html.basic grammar.

I think I might look at it. Atom itself has an API; is there documentation on starting a language module? Or is it more a matter of looking at existing language files and picking them apart?

It is easiest to just copy an existing language package and just rip things out and add new patterns.

You might want to look at the language-arduino package as an example of a very basic grammar that just includes another grammar. You could then add the ASP specific <% patterns to it and you should be good to go.
