Open file with single click

Since I updated to atom 1.7.1, atom and the tree viewer have options to preview files (using single click on it in the tree view), and fully open using double click.

However, in the version I had before (1.5.something), files could be opened with a single click. I cannot find an option to restore this behaviour. Is there one, or could it be added?
